What’s actually involved
HeatShield is a patented cerfractory (ceramic + refractory) sealant developed by SaverSystems specifically for restoring damaged clay flue tiles. It’s installed in three forms — Joint Repair (for tile joint gaps), CeCure Sleeve Relining System (for cracked tiles), and full Resurfacing System (for severely damaged flues) — depending on what the Level 2 video inspection finds.
How it works: a foam applicator tool the exact diameter of the flue is pulled up the chimney, depositing the cerfractory material against the tile walls. It cures into a smooth, monolithic ceramic surface — bonded to the original tile, sealing cracks and gaps. The resulting flue passes Level 2 video re-inspection.
Why HeatShield instead of stainless liner: HeatShield restores the original tile (preserving the chimney’s original draft characteristics) and costs roughly half what stainless does for equivalent damage. Stainless is the right answer for severely deteriorated flues, oversized flues, or specific fuel-conversion scenarios — HeatShield is the right answer for cracked-but-intact tile flues, which is most older DFW masonry chimneys.

Frequently asked questions
How long does HeatShield last?
20-year manufacturer warranty on material; we warranty workmanship for the same period. Real-world: properly installed cerfractory liners are still in service 30+ years out from the original install dates in the late 1990s.
Will it shrink the flue size?
Joint repair adds essentially zero flue diameter. Sleeve and Resurfacing add 1/4 to 3/4 inch of wall thickness depending on damage. For most DFW chimneys this stays well above the minimum draft cross-section requirement.
Can I use the fireplace right after?
No — 24 to 48 hour cure time before first fire. We schedule install with that buffer in mind.
Will it pass insurance / real-estate inspection?

Why not just put in a stainless liner?
