We sweep all chimneys and flues with care, from the smallest stove or fire, through to the largest inglenook or even Bio mass boiler. After sweeping has been completed we carry out a smoke evacuation check to ensure the chimney is working as it should and finally an insurance approved NACS sweeping certificate is issued.
Chimney Inspection
We inspect your chimney and fireplace while we clean this is included as part of your sweep. When we clean your chimney, we also clean the smoke shelf, and the fire box or insert. If you are considering the purchase of a home, we highly recommend an inspection. An inspection can save on costly repairs. Chimney Cap
The chimney cap is installed on the top of the flue at the top of the exterior chimney structure, it prevents rain water from accessing the flue and fireplace which can cause water damage to the house and corrosion to the metal parts of the chimney, there are custom chimney caps which are usually rectangular and covering the whole chimney structure top, basic chimney caps will usually be round or square in shape and will only cover the flue top.
Chimney Crown
A chimney crown is placed on the top of your chimney to cover it completely, while leaving vent holes to let smoke escape. This covering not only prevents foreign objects from entering your chimney and possibly your home, but it also increases the heating efficiency of your stove or fireplace. A Chimney liner is usually made of Terra Cotta, stainless steel or aluminum. Chimney liners are used to properly size a flue to a gas appliance or in the case of deteriorating terra cotta liners. A new liner may be needed if you have converted from oil to gas, if your chimney is brick and, or mortar is flaking, or if you want to extend the life of your chimney.
