Fireplace Repair in Dallas — Same-Week Service, Honest Diagnosis

When your fireplace fails right before guests arrive, before the first cold front, or right after a storm — you need a Dallas fireplace repair company that takes your call, shows up when promised, and tells you the real problem. We’ve been doing exactly that across Dallas since 2018.

What “Fireplace Repair” Actually Covers

“Fireplace repair” means different things depending on what kind of fireplace you have. We service all three major types:

Gas Fireplace Repair

Pilot light won’t stay lit. Burner glows orange instead of blue. Flame is weak or split. Gas smell when the unit is off. Remote stopped working. These are all gas fireplace repair calls — typically a thermocouple, thermopile, gas valve, or ignition module issue. Most Dallas gas fireplaces are 8-20 years old and use replaceable parts we keep stocked.

Wood-Burning Fireplace Repair

Damper won’t open or close. Smoke pours into the room when you light a fire. Bricks inside the firebox are cracked or missing mortar. The masonry is spalling. The clay tile flue liner has a visible crack. These are typically the underlying issues behind a “fireplace problem” in older Dallas homes (East Dallas, Lakewood, Oak Cliff, Highland Park). Repair scope varies from a $295 damper rebuild to a $2,800 firebox restoration.

Electric & Linear Fireplace Repair

Heater element stopped firing. LED flame display flickering or stuck. Smart control unresponsive. Remote pairing failed. We service all major brands of electric and linear fireplaces, including the new wave of “smart” controllable units now common in Dallas new-construction (Knox-Henderson lofts, frisco/" class="auto-entity-link" data-term="Newman Village">Newman Village Frisco, plano/" class="auto-entity-link" data-term="West Plano">West Plano builds).

How We Diagnose Fireplace Problems

Most Dallas fireplace repair companies will quote sight-unseen and arrive ready to upsell. We work differently:

  1. Phone triage (free): 5-minute call. We ask about symptoms, your unit type, age, and what changed recently. Often we can narrow down the issue before sending a tech.
  2. On-site visit ($89 in DFW): Full visual inspection, manufacturer’s spec check, smoke test (for wood), gas pressure test (for gas), live electrical diagnostic (for electric). 45-90 minutes typical.
  3. Written quote: Every repair scope written down with parts cost, labor hours, and a fixed total. You sign before we start.
  4. Parts on the truck: Most common Dallas fireplace parts (gas valves, thermopiles, dampers, refractory panels) are on the truck. Same-day repair common.

Common Symptoms & What They Usually Mean

My gas fireplace pilot light won’t stay lit
Almost always a worn thermopile or thermocouple. Both are $185-$285 replacement parts. Sometimes it’s a dirty pilot assembly that just needs cleaning (about $185 with our service visit). Less commonly it’s a gas valve issue ($385-$485). Quick diagnostic answers this in 15 minutes.
Smoke pours into the room when I light a fire
Usually one of: damper not fully open, cold flue (try opening damper and lighting newspaper at the throat to warm the flue), creosote buildup blocking flue, animal nest in the flue, or a chimney crown crack admitting downdraft. Diagnosis takes a sweep + visual inspection (~$295 combined).
Gas smell when fireplace is off
Stop using the fireplace immediately and call the gas company (Atmos in DFW: 1-866-322-8667 for emergencies). Don’t operate any electrical switches. Once gas is shut off, call us — usually a valve assembly issue ($385-$685 repair).
My electric fireplace heater stopped working but the flame display still works
Most likely a thermal cutoff or heater element failure. These are usually $145-$285 part + 60-min labor. Many smart units also need a firmware reset before parts replacement — sometimes that fixes it without any new parts.
I haven’t used my fireplace in years. Is it safe?
Maybe — but don’t light it until it’s been inspected. Long-dormant fireplaces commonly have: animal nests in the flue, mortar deterioration, cracked refractory panels, blocked gas lines, or undetected damage from old roof leaks. A Level 2 inspection">Level 2 inspection (~$395-$595) is required before first use after long dormancy.
